AAUSC | Second Language Research & Practice
Second Language Research and Practice (SLRP) is a fully refereed, open-access journal that is published annually in the fall. Grounded in the discipline of Applied Linguistics, the journal aims to disseminate scholarship on topics relevant to postsecondary language education and language program direction, for example program articulation, curriculum development, teacher professional development, student learning, and assessment.
With the aim of expanding scope and readership, the journal replaces the annual series, Issues in Language Program Direction, established in 1990 under the auspices of the AAUSC, to highlight the work of scholars who oversee language programs at U.S. universities. SLRP is designed to be inclusive of diverse professional backgrounds, including tenure- and non-tenure-track faculty and graduate students, to appeal to researchers and practitioners across the educational spectrum, and to represent a wide range of languages.
Second Language Research and Practice is published by the National Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC) at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa on behalf of the American Association of University Supervisors and Coordinators of Language Programs (AAUSC). SLRP also partners with three other national Language Resource Centers: the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) at the University of Minnesota; the Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL) at the University of Arizona; and the Second Language Teaching and Resource Center (L2TReC) at the University of Utah.
Previous partners of the journal include the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL) at the University of Texas at Austin and the Open Language Resource Center (OLRC) at the University of Kansas.
