This session aims to discuss the importance of the OPI examination for world language students and its place in the world language curriculum. The presentation will offer an overview of the structure of the exam and how oral assessment exercises can prepare students for what to expect on the OPI along with help prepare them mentally to take it. Aside from a theoretical introduction, each presenter will offer specific sample exercises that successfully assists students in reviewing functions found on the exam. Examples will come from Elementary Italian and French courses along with Intermediate Italian courses. Student feedback and production will be shared along with a brief discussion about the challenges in incorporating these assessments into the curriculum. Attention will also be given to integrating ACTFL's 5 C's and three I's in producing meaningful oral communication.
